Coronavirus Lockdown: After Ramayana, Mahabharat To Air On DD National Starting Tomorrow
After much of hullabaloo over Ramayana, DD National will now air another mythological show Mahabharat too. Starting from tomorrow, one episode will be aired at 12 Noon and another at 7 PM
This morning, the official social media page of DD National, Prasar Bharti announced that during the lockdown period, mythological based TV shows will return to the small screen. The show earlier featured on every Sunday morning during 1987-1988 on DD National. Soon after the announcement was made, it took a Political turn and soon the controversy erupted. Soon #RamayanaParMahabharat started trending on social media.
But now putting the hullabaloo at rest, Prasar Bharti has announced another that mythological show, Mahabharat too will be aired on the same channel. It will start from tomorrow (March 28). One episode will be aired at 12 Noon and another at 7 PM. The official social media page of the channel made the announcement and wrote, “After Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, now Doordarshan brings you another epic show BR Chopra's Mahabharat starting from tomorrow (March 28) on its @DD_Bharati channel. #IndiaFightsCorona”
Announcing the arrival of Ramayana on DD National, Prakash Javadekar wrote, "Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting to retelecast of 'Ramayana' from tomorrow, Saturday, March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.@narendramodi @PIBIndia@DDNational."

Soon after the controversy erupted, Ramayana actor Arun Govil had reacted on the same and told Indian express, “It is not religion that spreads hatred but those who practice it -- the religious leaders. Besides them, politicians also use it as a weapon for political gains.” (ALSO READ: Why Just Ramayana? DD National will air one episode of Ramayana in the morning from 9 AM to 10 AM and another episode at 9 Pm to 10 PM.
